About us

Somali led and autonomously founded by Somali youth organisations, the London Somali Youth Forum aims to bring together many young Somali people from all over London.

Our Vision is to be the voice of young Somali people in London.

Our Mission is to empower and inspire young Somali people in London through working in partnership, providing leadership and acting as a strategic voice for promoting equlity, representation, good leadership and effective decision-making.

Key areas of focus
The London Somali Youth Forum primarily focuses on the following areas:
• Gun, Gangs and Knife crime
• Prevention of extremism
• Health and Education
• International Development

Core values – guiding principles
Equality, respect, autonomy, representation, transparency, inclusion and frankness are among the core values for the operation of the London Somali Youth Forum and its members.

Aims and Objectives:

Facilitate the contribution of young Somali people through the progress of sustainable and independent youth organisations at local, national and international level.

Influence policy matters concerning young people in general and young Somalis in particular as well as (member) youth organisations, by being a recognised partner for London based statutory organisation and service providers, namely the Metropolitan Police and local authorities.

Develop and enhance the contribution of young Somali people and Somali youth organisations in the wider community, and take part of strategic and decision-making processes.

Promote the exchange of good practice of individual and collective experiences, common perceptives, and equal rights and opportunities among young Somali people in London as well as UK.

Drawing on our international oriented member organisations we aim to facilitate the undertaking of development projects in regions of origins;

Harness these development initiatives through our members and assign the task with the organisations who are engaged in this sector.

Raise awareness and encourage the concept of youth policy as an incorporated factor of general policy progress.

Advocate for active citizenship and cohesion, more equality and fair representation, and cross-cultural acceptance and respect.

Become the leading regional Somali youth platform in the UK, we strive to widen British integration while at the same time adding value to the advancement of youth work in other regions.
